LehighValleyLive Quotes Hope Lefeber on Request to Withdraw Guilty Plea

A Sept. 16, 2014 news article from LehighValleyLive quoted federal criminal defense attorney Hope C. Lefeber regarding her client’s request to withdraw a guilty plea agreement.

Lefeber said the government should have revealed key information about a witness against her client, Sonia Panell. Lefeber said she never would have advised her client to plead guilty if information about the informant’s background had been disclosed.

“Given the fact that Person #1 is an admitted liar who, numerous times in the past has fabricated evidence for the sole purpose of getting cash payments from the FBI, the likelihood that a jury will believe Person #1 is slim,” Lefeber wrote in her filing.
