Federal Conspiracy To Violate False Claims Act Case Dismissed
In the case of U.S.A. v. Barnes, Crim. No. 15-235 (E.D. Pa), the defendant was charged with two counts of conspiracy to provide false statements to the government in connection with applications to participate in the Renewable Fuel Standard Program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Having previously pled guilty to these charges while represented by other counsel, the client believed that the prosecution was unjust and hired Ms. Lefeber to help to vindicate him. Ms. Lefeber was tireless in her multiple presentations to the government to convince them to dismiss the prosecution. Ultimately, she was successful; the Court allowed her client to withdraw his guilty plea and all charges were dismissed.
